    This guys right to an extent. you dont need much protein to be “fit”. And having fruits and veggies etc is a good way to consume straight amino acids because they dont need to be broken down. but if your aim is gaining muscle, strength or anaerobic power then you wont need to worry much about the energy used to break down protein into amino acids. Because your energy needs will not be as high as if you were a marathon runner, jogger or cyclist etc. Overall your diet should reflect your training

  3. LtLemontwist says:

    1. Enzymes = proteins. In your own words, “look it up”
    2. Cooking does not destroy amino acids. Temperatures required to destroy an amino acid are extremely high. No where near cooking temperatures. Temperature denatures proteins, but denature ≠ destroy. Again, “look it up”.
    3. Yes amino acids are found in the foods you each. The question is how many? Usually, this is measured in grams and listed as protein. Why? See #1.
    4. You body is very efficient at breaking down proteins so no.

  4. bzanotti says:

    Enzymes are a type of protein, this guy didn´t study enough

  5. jjay75 says:

    @timoftyr The thing is though is that if you are doing that much exercise you must dramatically increase your caloric intake. If you’re eating enough calories for your lifestyle, you’re probably getting enough protein to sustain that lifestyle.

    Nuts and seeds are common amongst raw vegans wanting to gain muscles, mostly because of the amount of fruit/vegetables you must eat to hit 4-5k calories.

  6. 12elfutbolista says:

    You know you’re not buff….at all

  7. MTOTOwaNYAYO says:

    All I have to say is humans have canines for a reason. We have teeth specialied in shearing meat. Do we eat too much meat (America)? Yes. But we should have some for optimal health

  8. nbudzyn says:

    @myksgrl No, MASS comes from resistance training… listen to tim… he is “overweight” as a runner… I am the same way, i cant lift to failure without putting on way too much muscle… listen to his lecture again, those power lifters and mma fighters you are concerned about would thrive on this diet, getting quick clean amino acids to their muscles and they would all perform better, guaranteed

  9. nitescuiustin says:

    @123gwf we are all vegetarians! one thing i know – don’t want to be skinny like him :)

  10. TheGrateful108 says:

    According to Ajur Veda there are at least 3 types of man with different metabolism. One type is better assimilating fruit and veg, another rice and beans… So there is no single formula for all, but rather guide lines. Real point is to find your optimal combination – max absorb-ability point. While all these Vegan gurus shouting out their truths, reality is – no single experience can be mechanically extrapolated. One has to learn nutrition in depth and find their optimal food combination.

  11. jetcape15 says:

    If something is made of amino acids, it is a protein by definition. Fruits and vegetables typically contain protein in much smaller amounts than animal products, and cooking things does not destroy proteins. You have a serious misunderstanding of basic biology; the argument that you don’t need protein because you get amino acids doesn’t make any sense, and I’m not about to take nutritional advice from someone who obviously doesn’t know anything about nutrition.

  12. pigsy65 says:

    I like this guy, he’s funny. BUT he talks sense. And I think he’s right.

  13. Morethanenough1 says:

    @lovermouse lol, true. Meat good…next year, meat bad. Bread good, next year bread bad…eggs good…..then bad….then good again..
    Find what works for your body and go with it ppl.

  14. truthbelongstoeveryb says:

    @myksgrl Hey! :) Just saying, you ought to check out another video on Youtube, there’s a professional bodybuilder who is 100% Raw Vegan. Very interesting, I definitely recommend checking it out! :)

  15. auggiedoggy says:

    @123gwf : You make a common error using Bill Pearl as a good example of vegetarianism can do for you. Bill Pearl built his physique on a high protein diet including plenty of red meat for most of his career. He switched to a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet in the later years. Cahling had a certain amount of success, certainly not to the extent of Pearl. Cahling consumed dairy products. I believe he also took protein supplements as well.

  16. brahmamurti says:

    @outofheartify true, he is 42 now :)

  17. 01100111000 says:

    enzymes are proteins

  18. hellspawnds says:

    Except from fruit, where do you get amino acids/enzymes? sprouts? And are nuts bad unless you soak them?

  19. spoonr47 says:

    @outofheartify Do a research on vegan and vegetarian diets.

    It’s actually a “fountain of youth” recipe.
    100 yr old monks in china look like they are 40yr because of their MEATLESS diet.

    Our MEAT by today’s standard is VERY TOXIC, especially with all the artificial synthetic influences and of course GMO.

  20. durianriders says:

    This dudes name is Tim Van Orden. He has been doing really well in some national level running races in the US. I guess its work’n for him. Judge by results, not by theory.

  21. alfaandomegaagain says:

    @marcluc1988 i have been vegan 33 and counting..no animal protein ….and looking younger ..:)

  22. alfaandomegaagain says:

    @nezpercenathan maybe not but consider being all muscle and have a deficient health…

  23. Natoyle93 says:

    @TheBicycleman Milk

  24. mustifique says:

    This guy’s talk is full of nonsense. Fruits do not have aminoacids; enzymes are made up of proteins; a stand-alone aminoacid is of no use and all living things synthesize proteins combining those aa’s. Why do you pose as a biologist or a nutritionist, just run, that’s what you are good at…

  25. RobindeValkNL says:

    @123gwf Wow, Bill Pearl!! Was he a vegan? I mean he was a champion bodybuilder. You mean he primairly ate raw plant foods?
