Health Care In Crisis, But I Will Survive

Just today I was listening to the radio describe how our Canadian health care system is in crisis. I believe it.

Back in 2003 it was predicted that in ten years the Canadian health care would be in crisis. It was said that there will be lots of retired doctors and other serious predictions. I cannot recall all the predictions!

Today, 2011, I guess our health care system is in crisis. Many doctors will be retiring and we do not have enough new doctors to replace them. This is a problem! Plus, many new doctors will go elsewhere to practice do to the way the system is set up.

Our government limits how many patients a doctor is allowed to have. It is believed that the fewer patients a doctor has there will be fewer tests and other costly exams prescribed. So, if you are without a doctor and really need a test or costly exam, it is just to bad for you! Not very nice is it. You will have to go to the emergency room and wait for hours just to be told to go home and take an Advil!

I know of a few people who already lost their doctor that has retired. I had friends and family go to the hospital and had to sleep in the hallway without any privacy. Two of my friends had surgery and both had to sleep over night beside the noisy emergency entrance, in different hospitals! Can you imagine the horror of dealing with pain from surgery with all that noise and no privacy?

The doctor that was on the radio mentioned that the health care system is in crisis because there is no long term plan. He says that they need to decide what they want, how much they are willing to spend, and from there, how do we get it. By the sounds of it the only plan the government has is saving money and not our health. I am sure that with a structured plan they could save money and help us out with our health!

I Will Survive!

Excuses are only good if they do you good

Here’s the deal. You and many other people already know that eating healthy, physical activity and a healthy lifestyle prevents many health problems. With that in mind, it is up to you to stay healthy. If no one else is going to take care of you, who is?

You are gonna take care of yourself, of course. It is up to you. No one taped you to the couch. No one is force feeding you. No one made you fat. No one made you lazy.

Sure, we all have reasons to be the way we are. We all have loads of excuses. What’s yours? Never mind, I do not want to hear about it and I do not want you thinking about it.

Even better, what is your excuse to start taking care of yourself? What is your excuse for keeping yourself fit, well nourished and healthy?

I hope one excuse is so that you do not have to visit the doctor, that would be excellent excuse. I understand you may not have control of some health problems that arise but, there are plenty of things you can do to avoid your doctor and the hospital.

heart healthJust A Few Bad Practices…

  • Smoking
  • Alcohol Abuse
  • Drug Abuse
  • Eating Everything In Site
  • Eating All The Time
  • Poor Food Choices
  • Inactivity

It is a concern that our health care system is in a crisis. It is also a concern that so many people do not take care of themselves and seem to put strain on the health care system when many times it could be avoided by just living a healthy lifestyle.

So, what is the plan?
What is it you want to accomplish?
How much time are you willing to spend to get what you want?
How are you going to do it?

Love to have some feedback!

So true and so very right. While I adore my family doctor, it’s next to impossible to get in to see him. The response his receptionist generally gives is “if it’s important, go to the clinic”….huh? If it’s important, I want to see the doctor who has known me since childhood, thank you.
I find it’s generally the “care” that has gone away in the Health Care system. The government doesn’t want to care enough to give more funding and some of the nurses and doctors just don’t care for anything beyond their pay cheque. Very sad :(

I agree when you say that some of these people do not care. I’ve experienced first hand. Customer service is poor in many places. The last place this should happen is within our health care system!
