If you are like most people out there trying to lose weight, you have most likely tried the latest fad diet. Heck, you are probably on a diet right now. One thing I do know is that most diets do work. The problem is that these wonder diets are so hard to stick too.

I have heard about tons of different weight loss diets, heck, do a search on google and you will see thousands upon thousands of diets available. Well, this post is not about which diet works and which diet does not work so I will not start! This blog post is about why your diet sucks if you are not exercising.

Many diets out there will let you know what you need to eat or tell you in great detail what you have to eat. What these diet programs seem to miss out on is the exercise part. Sure, they will suggest you exercise at least three times per week, join a gym, or start walking. This is great advice but, if they spent as much time telling you what to exactly do for those exercise routines in great detail as they did with what you should be eating, you would get extraordinary results.

When you diet alone to lose weight, you will probably lose some weight but you will look and feel tired. Once you have dropped your weight with diet alone you will not have the curves you so much desire. With exercise combined with the proper diet plan, you will feel full of energy and you will most definitely look great! Plus, when you exercise and develop some beautifully toned muscle, you will boost your metabolism thus improving your fat melting super powers.

So there you have it. There is no excuse. Get off your butt and start moving!

Hey there,

Richard Slave Driver Huard with Fitness Mechanix Ltd. in Moncton, New Brunswick, here and I want to talk to you about performing squats and doing squat.

I’ve been instructing Boot Camp classes since 2007 and I’ve seen some funky squats. Some of these feats I am not sure what they could be called.

Typically the basic squat is quite basic! It is as simple as bending your knees. When I look around I see plenty of people performing that squat and only bending at the waist performing a forward bend. I am assuming they bend forward to avoid the hard work associated with the squat. Do em right and you will feel the burn, it the right places.

I hear tons of excuses why one cannot perform a squat. Some excuses are legit and others… not so much.

As you can tell I have a problem with people not doing the proper squat and only doing squat!

Performing the basic SQUAT

First off, stand with your feet about shoulder width apart with your hands on your hips, straight out in front, or wherever you like. Once you are in position, begin by bending your knees. This is where so many people go wrong so please pay close attention. As you bend your knees, drive your butt behind you and keep your back flat. As you continue to bend, at the knees, you will feel your upper body bending forward. Now, as you continue to bend take a look down, you should still be able to see your toes while looking down past your knees. We do not want those knees going past those toes. This is for a completely different exercise and bending your knees this far forward may sometimes causes pain in the knees. To complete the squat exercise, once you have reached a 90 degree bend, in your knees, straighten those knees back up and position your body into the start position once again.

What is it?

The Hellfire workout is a men only workout which is the bog brother to the Red-Hot workout for ladies.

The Hellfire workout is designed to challenge guys with some pretty insane workouts designed to rip muscle, shred fat, increase strength, increase muscle mass, increase speed, agility and quickness. The Hellfire workout is designed to increase mental toughness.

We will use dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells, suspension trainers, sandbags, odd objects, body weight, skipping rope, exercise bands and much, much more! With all the training devices and techniques used in this program, you can expect to increase your metabolism and start shredding fat right away!

Unlike aerobic and cardio training, this style of training will have you burning fat while you sleep. You see, aerobic and cardio training burns lots of fat during the workout session but does very little during the recovery period after you have completed your workout. When you involve intense training, such as our Hellfire torture training program, you can expect fat burn during the workout and for the next 24 hours!

Who is it for?

If you are a man who wants to push yourself to the limit and achieve greatness, who wants rock hard arms, grip like a python, power of a bulldozer and the endurance of a pro MMA fighter, this is for you. If you are a warrior who is willing to push for the top and is willing to sweat, work through agony, and not cry at the sight of a little torture, you are the man for the Hellfire workout! Is that you?

We are only allowing eight people at any given time to participate in the Hellfire workout program. If you are the man or warrior for this workout, contact us now! We cannot accept everyone who contacts us.

When Do The Workouts Take Place?

The Hellfire workouts are currently schedule for Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8 PM to 9 PM. Be sure to get your pre-workout shake in your system at least 45 minutes before this workout!

How Do I Register?

In order to register you must send us an email with some important information. You need to tell us why you are a fit for this program and why you are interested in the Hellfire training program. If we do not think you are a fit for the program, we may suggest another program that will suit your needs. Remember, the Hellfire training program is not for everyone and we want to make sure it is a fit for anyone who signs up.

How Much Is It?

First, before we tell you how much the program costs, a few questions? How much is your health and fitness goals worth to you? How bad do you want the strength of the God Of Thunder?

If you were to get one on one training you would pay anywhere from $35 to $60 per session. Most one on one training sessions are boring and quite uninspiring! You would probably be stuck doing tons of slow paced cardio along with sitting your butt on single function machines!

With this semi private training environment you will be inspired and motivated by all those around you and the trainer. You will work as a team to reach similar goals. For as little as $15 per session you can train like a gladiator and look like a beast.

One Month of Hellfire Training
$150 (12 training sessions)

Also Includes…

Eight Class Punch Card which is good for all other classes such as Boot Camp, Boot Camp HD, Zumba, Fit Kix and Ab-Dominance

A 3 day CUSTOMIZED meal plan for first time Hellfire sign ups ($40 value)

10% discount on additional punch cards

10% discount on additional meal planning (nutrition planning)

So, what are you waiting for? If you are waiting for the war to be over, you will be waiting a long time because the health and fitness war is never ending!!! Dig out your battle axe and start swinging… Right now!

What is it?

The Red Hot workout is a ladies only workout which is a sister to the Hellfire workout for men.

The Red Hot workout is designed to challenge the She-Warrior with sizzling workouts designed to tone muscle, melt fat, increase strength, speed, agility and quickness. The Red hot workout is also designed to give women the boost of confidence they desire.

We will use dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells, suspension trainers, sandbags, odd objects, body weight, skipping rope, exercise bands and much, much more! With all the training devices and techniques used in this program, you can expect to increase your metabolism and start melting fat right away!

Unlike aerobic and cardio training, this style of training will have you burning fat while you sleep. You see, aerobic and cardio training burns lots of fat during the workout session but does very little during the recovery period after you have completed your workout. When you involve intense training, such as our Red Hot training program, you can expect fat burn during the workout and for the next 24 hours!

Who is it for?

If you are a woman who wants to push yourself to the limit and achieve great health and fitness levels, who wants buns of steel and an overall firm, strong body, this is for you. If you are a woman who is willing to push for the top and is willing to sweat, and sweat a lot to get to the top, you are the woman for the Red Hot workout! Is that you?

We are only allowing eight people at any given time to participate in the Red Hot workout program. If you are the woman for this workout, contact us now! We cannot except everyone who contacts us.

When Do The Workouts Take Place?

The Red Hot workouts are currently schedule for Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8 PM to 9 PM. Be sure to get your pre-workout shake in your system at least 45 minutes before this workout!

How Do I Register?

In order to register you must send us an email with some important information. You need to tell us why you are a fit for this program and why you are interested in the Red Hot training program. If we do not think you are a fit for the program, we may suggest another program that will suit your needs. Remember, the Red Hot training program is not for everyone and we want to make sure it is a fit for anyone who signs up.

How Much Is It?

First, before we tell you how much the program costs, a few questions? How much is your health and fitness goals worth to you? How bad do you want to firm up your body and get it into tip top shape?

If you were to get one on one training you would pay anywhere from $35 to $60 per session. Most one on one training sessions are boring and quite uninspiring!

With this semi private training environment you will be inspired and motivated by all those around you and the trainer. You will work as a team to reach similar goals. For as little as $15 per session you can train like a She Warrior and look fabulous.

One Month of Red Hot Training
$120 (8 training sessions)

Also Includes…

Eight Class Punch Card which is good for all other classes such as Boot Camp, Boot Camp HD, Zumba, Fit Kix and Ab-Dominance

A 3 day CUSTOMIZED meal plan for first time Red Hot sign ups ($40 value)

10% discount on additional punch cards

10% discount on additional meal planning (nutrition planning)

So, what are you waiting for? If you are waiting for the war to be over, you will be waiting a long time because the health and fitness war is never ending!!!

Video was filmed winter of 2009, I think December!

Hey Richard Huard here. I admit it, I’ve been slacking off for a while and all my excuses are not the best but hey, we all have our down time. I am not going to wait until the New Year to kick it into overdrive, like so many other people. Nah, I start tonight.

I will be posting some of my results and give you a few progress reports if it interests anyone at all!

In the video above you will notice that I was quite motivated to workout. Heck, it was 11 o’clock at night, raining and there had just been a snow storm AND… It was a Saturday night!!

So, you have anything laying around that will motivate you to get off your butt and get to work, today, not tomorrow. Find an old picture, video or take one now and set those goals high.

Do not wait for the New Year or for things to be just perfect. Nothing will ever be perfect.

Love to see some motivating comments below or share your thoughts over at our Facebook Page here.

Most exercise machines are designed to work one muscle at a time. This is great for isolating one particular muscle group but does not burn many calories. Plus, if all you use are machines for your workouts, your core and stabilizing muscles will suffer.

Example 1

Let’s use the shoulder press machine for an example. When you sit on the machine, your butt is well rested on a seat and your are sitting back comfortably against a cushy back. Your entire body is quite comfy in that chair. From there you push on the handles lifting the weight while the machine ensures the weight is moving in a pre-determined direction. So, as you can tell, the only thing you have to worry about is getting the weight up and then down. This exercise is great for a beginner to understand the motion or for a bodybuilder trying to target a specific muscle.

Example 2

Now, let’s use two dumbbells to perform a standing shoulder press. You will stand with your feet approximately shoulder width apart. You will need to concentrate on keeping your back straight by keeping those core muscles tight. Your dumbbells will be held over each shoulder. As you push the weight up overhead, you will need to use your stabilizing muscles to ensure that the weight does not fall forward or back.

As you can tell, using example 2 requires your body to work harder than example 1. You could even add a squat between each shoulder press adding to the calorie burning effect.

Keep Your Eyes Open For This

In the future you will be seeing some interval music and exercise videos to help you achieve great fitness and health. Keep visiting our website or/and sign up for our email list to the right, just over there.

This time a year we can’t avoid the Holiday parties and it’s evil twin “Alcohol”. If you know me, you know that I am a big advocate of a balanced lifestyle. I preach moderation NOT restriction. So without further ado, let’s talk a bit about our friend “alcohol”

Alcohol And Fat Loss – What You Need To Know

One question that often presents itself to many dieters who are trying to shed the excess weight that has accumulated over time is whether or not alcohol can be included in their diet plan.

Alcohol is something that most adults do like to indulge in from time to time – some more often than others.

So what’s the real deal about alcohol and your progress? Is this something that you can make room for in your diet or is it something that you need to give the boot?

Alcohol And Calories

The very first thing that you need to take note of is how many calories are found in alcohol. Alcohol itself contains seven calories per gram, whereas both proteins and carbs contain just four. Fat comes in at the highest calorie value per gram at nine, which places alcohol right in the middle.

But what’s often worse is what the alcohol is mixed with. If you’re drinking your alcohol with high calorie or fat mixers such as cream, sodas, or sugary mixers you could easily end up with a drink that packs in well over 300 calories per serving.

If you take in three or four of these over the course of the night, it’s really going to add up.

Alcohol And Fat Metabolism

The second important thing that you need to note is the impact that alcohol consumption will have on your fat metabolism. The minute that you put alcohol into your body, all fat burning is going to come to a halt.

Your body views alcohol as a toxin and as such, as soon as it comes in, it’s going to do everything it can to rid itself of this alcohol. No further fat will be burned off until it’s out of your system.

Only then will you start burning up body fat again. So if you consume quite a bit of alcohol one night, you can expect to see your rate of fat loss drop off for a more significant period of time.

Alcohol And Your Recovery

Finally, the last important thing to note about alcohol consumption is the impact it will have on your recovery rates.

In addition to putting the breaks on all fat burning taking place in the body, the second thing that alcohol is going to put the breaks on is protein synthesis.

This means that no further lean muscle tissue will be built up as long as that alcohol is in the body.

Again, you can imagine what this is going to do to your workout goals.

So as you can see, if you want to be truly successful with your fat loss and workout program, it’s best if you can forgo alcohol for the time being. One drink every now and then may not hurt all that much, but if you’re taking in any more than this, it will definitely hinder the progress that you see.

Comitted to your health and fitness goals,

Vitamins - We all need our vitamins and there are plenty of reasons why we need to take em and one reason is because we do not get all the nutrients and vitamins we need with our busy lives and with our daily eating habits.

multi-vitamin for women
multi-vitamin for men

Krill Oil - There has been a ton of hype how fish oil can enhance your health and enhance your weight loss efforts. Well, I say skip fish oil and check out KRILL OIL.

Prograde Metabolism - Ok, I would not normally promote a product that claims to boost your metabolism but if you are looking for a boost, these guys have hit the nail on the head. Take a look at the ingredients of Prograde Metabolism and you will notice it does not have a bunch of crazy chemicals. Plus, they even mention that you need to exercise regularly and eat properly for this supplement to work effectively. An yes, I’ve tried this product and did not experience my heart coming through my chest or any other side effects.

Protein metabolism is the way your body breaks down proteins to build bones, muscles, cartilage, hormones and additional things such as hair and nails. Proteins are considered the building blocks for your body. The protein foods you eat enter the blood in the form of amino acids. The amino acids are delivered to your tissues. Your tissues convert them into proteins based on the types that delivered to the tissues. Your liver stores the amino acids as fat or glycogen.

Protein intake is most effective in small amounts combined with exercise.

All of your cells have protein. Proteins can bond with carbohydrates.

Protein Catabolism: How proteins are broken down to their amino acids.

Protein Anabolism: How proteins are formed from amino acids.

Essential And Non Essential Amino Acids: There are a total of 22 amino acids and eight are essential. The essential ones come only from your diet. The remaining 14 are produced from your body without help from your diet. It doesn’t mean the 14 are not important because they are important.

The Eight Essential Amino Acids

1. Phenylalanine2. Valine3. Threonine4. Tryptophan5. Isoleucine6. Methionine7. Leucine8. Lysime

Complete Proteins: Complete proteins do not mean that a particular protein food contains all 22 amino acids. Complete proteins have an adequate proportion of all the essential amino acids. The essential ones are in the correct amount. Many foods have amino acids in different quantities.

Protein Foods: Foods containing protein are found in all animals, vegetables, legumes and fruits. The advantage meat has as it relates to protein is meats have all the essential amino acids. Meat is a complete protein and plant foods generally are not. If you eat a variety of plants you will take in complete proteins.

The Dangers of Too Little Protein

Weak immune systemLoss of muscle massImpairment of circulatory and respiratory system

Eating Too Much Protein Is Dangerous

Eating too much protein will make your body toxic. This process is called deamination. An amino group is removed from the amino acid thus creating ammonia. Ammonia is toxic. Fortunately your body has a natural way to ridding itself of ammonia by converting it to uric acid and expunging it from your body by urine.

Some long distance athletes have reported their sweat smells like urine. This is most likely because this deamination process was occurring in their body.

Proteins are not meant to be used as an energy source or if they are it is only as a last resort. Carbohydrates are for energy. Athletes need plenty of carbohydrates so they don’t dip into their proteins for energy.

A diet that significantly reduces or eliminates complex carbohydrates is not a sound diet.

Some Health Consequences Of Too Much Protein

This list refers to animal protein

Digestive problemsCancerHeart diseaseGoutOsteoporosisHarms the liver and kidneyPyorrheaArteriosclerosisPremature agingArthritisHighly acidic: To balance the ph level the body extracts calcium from your bones. Studies have shown that people with the most meat intake have the most bone problems even if they take calcium supplements.

A number of sources discuss a myth that you need a lot of extra protein to build massive muscle mass. It is reported that most people naturally consume more than enough protein than what they need and what is necessary to build large muscle mass.

My research says the recommended level of protein intake is 25 to 35 grams per day.

Conclusion: Protein metabolism is a critical step in building and repairing essentially every part of your body. Not all the amino acids are equal. In order to obtain the essential amino acids you need to acquire it from your diet because your body will not produce them without help of your diet. You can fulfill all your protein needs strictly from plant foods provided that you eat a variety of plant foods. However, you will be deficient of B12 if you don’t eat meat. There is a mountain of research supporting the health dangers of too much protein from meat.

Read protein powder reviews and find out where to buy Muscle Milk by following these links.A good protein powder is probably the best muscle-building tool you can buy. Protein powder is generally consumed immediately after exercising, or in place of a meal. It is commonly used by both men and women in search of a better physique. Using protein powder is one way to ensure an adequate intake of protein. I think protein powder is a very versatile component in your nutritional plan.

Basicly taking protein powder is a way of making sure that your body has the raw materials need to make your muscles bigger and stronger. Pure protein powder is tasteless and some people argue it is tough just getting the stuff down. Plus, this virtually tasteless protein powder is scientifically formulated to be bland in flavor, so you won’t even notice that it’s there. The best way to use protein powder is to mix it with foods or liquids where you cannot notice them, such as hot cereals, casseroles or in sauces. Something that I’ve found works great for having your daily protein powder is adding it to yogurt. Blend well, until the protein powder is completely dissolved.

Protein powder is the most basic and fundamental of all bodybuilding and fitness supplements. This high-quality protein is perfect for the diet low in protein, people dieting, and vegetarians. Protein powder is available in many forms, with the two most popular being whey or milk based protein and soy based protein. Protein powder is essential for building muscle and it’s easy/convenient to carry around with you. The best time to utilize protein powder is right after a workout.

The most popular and highest quality protein powder is whey protein. Undenatured whey protein powder is an easily digestible source of protein derived from cow’s milk that contains no carbohydrates or saturated fats. After filtering, purifying and removing the water from the whey, a high quality protein powder is produced, free of fat and lactose. Whey protein powder is an excellent protein for everybody. A pure whey protein powder is for post workout and protein powder blends are for all day or right before bedtime. Whey protein powder is suitable for putting into smoothies. I have to say that the best protein powder is not cheap, but whey protein is good.

The first thing you need to have in a protein powder is great taste. CytoSport Muscle Milk, Chocolate Milk, Shake rates 5 out of 5 stars for best tasting protein powder. CytoSport makes Muscle Milk in a large variety of flavors all extremely tasty so you can drink a different flavored shake for weeks!

Diet food can be found in unexpected places. For example, look around the drink and spice aisles at your local grocery store. There you will find green tea and cinnamon, two ingredients that can actually teach you how to eat healthy for weight loss. These two foods work for healthy weight loss and improved overall health in different ways but together provide exponential health benefits. Let’s look at cinnamon first.

Dr. Richard Anderson (PhD) is a USDA scientist whose research on cinnamon has been published. He and his colleagues conducted one study that aimed to determine the effects of cinnamon in daily diet plans. Subjects consumed a total of 500mg of extract per day by taking 2 capsules in the morning and 2 more in the evening. This amount is roughly equivalent to 10g of cinnamon powder or 1.5Tbsp. 12 days of this regimen produced great results: reductions in body fat and increases in lean body mass.

Another research study concluded that there are even more exciting benefits to take advantage of by adding cinnamon to healthy diets. This one concluded with improvements in insulin sensitivity and blood glucose regulation in participants who were lean and healthy. For a person who is already eating right and not necessarily trying to achieve fat loss, more efficient insulin sensitivity lowers their risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

There is nothing but good news associated with the use of cinnamon as good nutrition, but there is one roadblock. 10 grams is a lot of cinnamon to work into 3 healthy meals a day. The planning and creativity would have to happen every single day. Coming up with weekly menus would be like creating your own fad diets.

Dr. Anderson adds another consideration: “When consuming high amounts of polyphenols in the diet the salivary glands produce a protein that binds and minimizes their effects.” Polyphenols are the chemicals that most likely give cinnamon powder its diet food power, so greater consumption backfires. Cinnamon in capsule form is an easy and effective solution to this problem.

And this capsule brings us to the subject of green tea and how it relates to cinnamon in the arena of healthy eating. Green tea is another ingredient that, when added to healthy diets in large amounts, produces surprising but gratifying outcomes. Unfortunately, drinking 3-4 cups of green tea every single day is as grueling a mission as eating 1.5Tbsp of cinnamon.

Around 3 or 4 cups of brewed green tea is the amount that has been figured to produce healthy weight loss effects. To understand how this diet food works, we first turn to Drs. Kimberly Grove (PhD) and Joshua Lambert (PhD), who are from the Department of Food Science at Pennsylvania State University. Their work focused on compiling all the evidence from research studies that presented green tea as a treatment for obesity. They state that 1 cup of brewed green tea contains between 240 and 320mg of catechins. 30-50% of the catechins are the type that probably burn more calories: epigallocatechin gallate, or, more commonly, EGCG.

A popular research study by Dulloo et al. tested the effect of 270mg of EGCG in daily eating plans. Participants took in this amount, which is found in 3-4 cups of green tea, through 2 capsules of extract 3 times a day. Over half of the subjects ended up experiencing, on average, an additional 78.3 calories burned over 24 hours, which is really impressive since the same number can be achieved by running at a high speed on a treadmill for a few minutes. The actual number of extra calories burned ranged from 63.5 to 200.

Now, you might be looking at that 3-4 number and thinking you would enjoy drinking a few bottles of the sugary tea you pick up from the gas station every day. In fact, fad diets like this might be an easy way for you to get good nutrition. However, the tea drinks that come in cans and bottles lose a significant portion of EGCG during manufacturing and storage, so this is not the route you want to take. Additionally, other types of teas contain smaller amounts of catechins. Green tea alone boasts the highest numbers of catechins, and particularly EGCG. You must be strict with your tea selection if you want the healthy weight loss benefits.

The fat-fighting ingredients in green tea, like those in cinnamon, are most effective and easily incorporated into diet plans in the form of a capsule. Instead of sprinkling a tablespoon of cinnamon on your healthy meals and washing it down with 3 cups of green tea, add a supplement to your healthy eating and exercise plans. Metabolism, by Prograde, uses a team approach by soliciting the efforts of cinnamon, green tea, and other fat-fighting ingredients in their supplement that gives your healthy weight loss a boost.

The Human Body is in a constant flux with the environment. Matter and molecules flow in and out, casting themselves into its complexities. Although the body lends them structure, it is the intake-the diet-that decides its physique. To control what goes in a diet is to choose what stays inside. Dietary decisions reflect an awareness of metabolism and the nutrients needed to modify it. There may be a host of diets purported for each activity and illness. However, the one macronutrient that is invariably required, in substantial amounts irrespective of the physiological state, is protein.

Proteins hold this special place in every diet for a variety of reasons. They connect the DNA to the rest of the cell and modulate all cellular functions and responses. They are the scaffolds of the human body that struts a billion cells. Proteins are also the workers that shuffle around the body relaying messages, carrying out repairs and digestion. Oxygen from the lungs and many nutrients from the gut are protein packed and delivered to their destination. The motors in the muscles and the antibodies in the immune system are all proteins. If genes code life in a helix of DNA, then proteins are life in its decoded form. Their pervasiveness makes them indispensable and, protein synthesis a priority in metabolism.

Add to this myriad of functions the astronomical turnover rate of proteins, and continuous protein synthesis becomes vital. Every protein has a short life span and is soon broken down into its constituent amino acids. New proteins are required to take their place. The skin itself is renewed every seven days. Then there are proteins that get used up, damaged or excreted, and need to be produced again. Protein synthesis goes on at a frantic pace even in normal people. Then there are periods of rapid growth, like athletes in training, teenagers, convalescent patients, babies, pregnant, or lactating mothers, where protein synthesis reaches an all time high. Proteins are broken down for other reasons as well. In times of stress, illness, or starvation, the body just cannot find enough sources of energy. In such circumstances, proteins are taken apart into their constituent amino acids and are used as fuel. Therefore, in all physiological states, cells are constantly at work, churning out new proteins.

To maintain this obligatory and intense rate of protein synthesis, the body needs a dedicated supply of amino acids. Unfortunately, unlike carbohydrates and fats that are stockpiled, the human body has no arrangement to store extra amino acids. The persistent demand for proteins and amino acids has to be met anew every day and from three possible sources: cellular production, the diet, or breakdown of other body proteins. Of these, cellular production would be most convenient. If the cell could produce all the required amino acids, there would be no compulsion to provide them in the diet. However, there are amino acids that just cannot be produced in the body. These ‘essential amino acids’ have to come from the diet.

Proteins, from the diet or supplements, are the best alternative. The supply of all amino acids can be ensured and in sufficient amounts. Cellular metabolism is relieved of the obligation to produce amino acids except for making minor adjustment in the supply chain. Protein synthesis can go on uninterrupted. Unless the diet meets the perpetual demand for amino acids, other, relatively expendable, body proteins are broken down to fulfill the requirement. In effect, a dietary deficiency of proteins forces the body to feed on itself.

The need for proteins in every diet is undeniable. The average American diet provides 1.2 g/kg of protein against the recommended daily allowance of 0.8 g/kg. The question, then, is whether to add protein supplements to an existing diet? While proteins from food may seem adequate, there is no telling whether all essential amino acids are supplied, and there is little way of knowing how easily those proteins are digested and assimilated into the body. A carefully researched protein supplement like Profect, when taken regularly, would remove such uncertainties.

Apart from supplying amino acids for protein synthesis, a high protein diet based on Profect has other advantages. Studies on high-protein diets have demonstrated their ability to induce weight loss. A high-protein diet produces early satiety and decreases the total energy intake. Protein synthesis, an energy consuming process, is promoted. The energy to assimilate such a diet, calculated as the “Thermogenic effect of feeding”, is high. More calories are burnt, more proteins are synthesized and the lean body mass increases while the body weight goes down. Brawn is exchanged for flab.

Proteins from Profect form bioactive peptides in the gut that can enhance gut defenses. The harmful gut bacteria are killed and normal flora is allowed to colonize the intestinal lining. Profect also protects the system from free radicals, free electron molecules produced during intense activity and stress. Free radicals are known to damage cell membranes. Their role in aging, cancer, and blood clotting is being intensely investigated. Profect increases the levels of Glutathione, a free radical scavenger that mops up free radicals shielding the cell from their effects. The added water-soluble vitamins and mineral in Profect prevent the loss of calcium and other micronutrients seen on high-protein diets.
